Welcome to Apprenticing to the Earth

Here’s a thing – people gathering bringing together from thirteen cultures from three continents – people who have made a substantial investment to be here, coming to teach and to learn and to share. We don’t all know each other yet, and we don’t really know what we’re doing. There’s no programme, no agenda, no real plan.

There is an intention, however, stated in the invitation that brought us all here:

if everyday

we could witness

a tiny portion of Earth’s unfolding

and inhale its thousand smells deep into our bodies

as they leave their hiding places

our souls would be on everlasting fire

in love with this miracle…

(Excerpt from ‘Seasons of Remembrance’ by Filiz Telek)

inhale its thousand smells deep into our bodies

How can we open ourselves to re-membrance with the Earth to cultivate our capacity to Source the wise actions needed at this time of significant transformation of our humanity and planet?

And so, here we are, preparing to share life together for six days. Six days is a long time if you really live it!

This will be an emergent time – we have no idea what will come out of the alchemy of our different gifts and quirks, all thrown higgledy-piggledy into the Aegean cauldron – a fusion of cultures, languages, traditions, flavours – never before tried in this combination.

The anchor points that will allow us to live in simplicity and complexity, to create the minimum order to provide a container to enable emergence to manifest out of the mystery, are four. Maria introduces them to us at our opening circle.

  • The pattern of Living Wholeness
  • Earth practices
  • Contemplation and artistry
  • Conscious kitchen

We’ll be discovering the meaning of these four guiding patterns more deeply as our time together unfolds – so stay tuned, dear readers, to learn together with us what it all means.
